Human Ecology surrounding the volcanoes of Costa Rica: Pre-draft...

There are many interesting aspects of culture that have developed as a direct result of human civilations near volcanoes. Costa Rica is absolutely no exception. There are several books that have been written about elements of culture in Costa Rica regarding volcanic activity. Since we will be visiting Arenal, an active subduction volcano, and also be learning so much about indigenous cultures elsewhere on the trip, I thought this might provide a good compliment to the course material.
