Being a painter, I am mystified by the colors of the ocean. The ocean is a very special place that is FILLED with color, and it just plain amazes me! For my topic I will discuss the various colors of the ocean, why they are so special and what purposes they serve. I will also share with you all some of the lovely works of art that have been done throughout history by artists that have captured the true essence of life underwater.


1. Intro- The colors of the ocean

2. What is that colorful thing?
a. Fish that stand out because of their colors
b. Coral that stands out because of its color
c. Sea Anenomes

3. Where’d that pigment come from?
a. Zooxanthellae
b. Exposure to light
c. Photosynthesis

4. The ocean on land
a. Artists
b. Paintings of the ocean
c. Paints named after ocean colors

5. Will the colors last?
a. Conserving reefs
b. What you can do, help the beauty last!
